Rotary Club of Trichur formed a Rotary Community Corps (RCC) at Association of Mentally Handicapped Adults/Children(AMHA), Kariattukara, Trichur. For nearly three decades, AMHA has been dedicated to the rehabilitation and welfare of intellectually challenged and autistic individuals. The centre currently supports 63 adults, including 30 residents—15 of whom are orphans—through its special school and rehabilitation programs.
As part of its vocational rehabilitation, AMHA operates a skill development centre where beneficiaries are trained to produce umbrellas, cloth bags, paper bags, candles, soaps, hand wash, cleaning liquids, detergents, and other fancy items. However, due to limited funds for raw materials and restricted opportunities to market their products, the centre faces challenges in sustaining this initiative. To support them, the Rotary Club of Trichur provided a working capital to purchase raw materials to produce various items. In addition, we aim to create sustainable avenues for marketing and sales, empowering these individuals with dignity and self-reliance.
